KUHULO'S HOMEAlone with three daughters, a movie-like story behind her, she never seems to be discouraged. In the refugee camp of Hitsats in northern Ethiopia, she assisted vulnerable women and children, and earned something by doing hair braids. Today she lives in Assisi, she learnt Italian quickly and to work very early.Covid has stopped her too, but we bet it's only for a short time. Kuhulo laughs when she says her name, because she discovered the pronunciation in Italian (in Italian "culo", which sounds almost the same , means "ass"), and when she laughs she makes everyone around her laugh too. "As for my life here, every day I thank God for being here and because perhaps what I would like for my life I can also achieve it, to be independent and manage it alone". In reality Kuhulo has always done it alone. Alone with three daughters, a movie-like story behind her, she never seems to be discouraged. In the refugee camp of Hitsats in northern Ethiopia, she assisted vulnerable women and children, and earned something by doing hair braids. She was so happy when Ilaria helped her locate her home in Eritrea on Google Earth, like a little girl; she looked like she was going to cry and instead she started laughing. And we with her. Stories Theme Town |
